Convertable Car Seat Recommendations

So, technically we aren't on this board yet and technically we don't need a convertable car seat YET but I want to start looking and get an idea of which one we want so that I can watch for sales.

SO, any recommendations? We have a Graco infant seat with the base, and I HATE HATE HATE it. The straps are IMPOSSIBLE to get to the same length so one side is always a little bit loose (not enough to scare me just enough to make me wonder why I paid so much money for it) and the bottom plug/clip thingies slide enough on the straps that they get flipped around the wrong way (like the cord flips inside them so that the strap is twisted when you do them up...) Anyway I just HATE it. Ugh.

I would like one of those wonderful swivilling seats but they apparently don't exist in Canada from what I can find so I need to know what other seats are good.

We have the Britax Marathon and are not using it yet but hear great recommendations.  We also have the Britax infant seat which we love and many of the parts are just easier, strap adjustment, height adjustment.  They are more expensive but I think worth it.  Diapers.com has good prices and right now I think 30% off Britax.

We have the Britax Boulevard and love it.  It was easy to install & DD seems very comfortable (she screamed all the time in the infant seat).  Some people complain about the shells on the Britax seats being short, but DH & I are both short so I don't foresee DD outgrowing it (she's 10th%).

There have been three or four "convertible car seat rec's" posts in the last week or two so you may want to check those out.

I don't have a recommendation, but I have a Graco MyRide65 and I don't like it at all so don't get that one! It does the thing you are talking about where the clip flips around on the strap! It's only one side but it happens at least three times a week and it's really annoying to sit with the door open in the cold/rain to flip it back around. Overall I find the seat really difficult to adjust and I find it takes a lot of time and udjusting to make sure the fit is correct. We are going to try to find another seat and use the Graco one in my husband's car.

I hear great things about the Britax (Marathon and Boulevard) seats. If you have a tall child I also hear great things about the Diono Radians.

I have the Graco My Size70, and I'm happy with it. We had a Chicco infant seat. The Graco was just as easy to install. Yes, the one clip takes a little extra effort to get it to snap in, but it does go in without too much of a struggle. Tightening the straps isn't fun, but I just always keep them tightened. With him in random bundling clothes, I like it to be set to the right thickness anyway so that I know he's not over-bundled.

We have a Britax Marathon and I really like it. We had a Graco infant seat that drove me crazy. The buckles on the Marathon are easier to connect, the straps don't flip around and I feel like it tightens better.

I hated our Graco infant seat for the reasons you stated and my LO hated it to.   We switched her to a convertable in my car at 3.5 months.  We have a Britax Boulevard and love it, but Britax seats have shorter shells and less leg room so they aren't good for taller babies.  My LO is either off the charts or barely on for height so it shouldn't be a problem.  The Diono Radian is recommended often.

My Size and Size4Me are not available in Canada. OP, the Radian and the Clek Foonf are pretty much it for rf to a decent age here, followed by the MyRide. Britax isn't great, it's outgrown rf quickly, and not great unless you have a shorty (like >50%) The rest all have fairly strict and short standing limits. Snugglebugz has one model/pattern of Radian on sale right now.

I just got my son the evenflo symphony 65 e3 and love it.  It's a reasonable price and fits good in our 1995 Honda Accord.  Super easy to install, I did it by myself in less than 5 minutes.  Super easy to strap him in and he looks comfy.  Looks like it will grow with him quite a ways.  Also, the cover is easy to take off for washing, the straps don't tangle, comes with cup holder, you can adjust the headrest and straps w/o rethreading it (one of my favorite features).

I totally recommend it!
