feeling the baby from the outside

Do you think I could feel the baby from the outside before the inside? Or Iam I making this up? Im 19w2d.

Since week 16/17 I was feeling what I thought was flutters, they felt like waves of pressure that would come and go very quickly. Then the  more I read, it sounded like round ligament pain. I've had other twinches and pressures down below ( a few days ago I swore it felt like baby was nearly right in my vagina!)   So for the past few nights before I go to bed, I have been putting my hands on my lower abdomen right where the doc found the heartbeat and with very gentle pressure seeing what I could feel. One day I was sure I felt something moving around in there. Tried again last night with both hands and I'm sure I felt a distinct pop from the outside! As if LO was saying "hey"! Then I never felt it again. I swear it felt like a pop- like popcorn, which is what I've read women feel but I'm sure I felt it more from the outside than from the inside. Do you think I'm just imagining these things because I want to, or is this really possible? I have been reading about other FTM feeling "kicks" and a lot of movement from 15 weeks on!  I know everyone is different but I feel like feeling the just the flutters alone is taking a looooong time. (p.s. I have strong ab muscles from years of pilates, so could that make a difference?)

I'm not sure, it could be possible.

I'm a FTM too and I would always think I could feel LO kicking from the outside (around 21 weeks or so) so I would call my DH in and tell him to put his hand there. Every time I'd feel a kick I'd ask him if he felt it an he didn't. I know I was imagining feeling them on the outside because he couldn't feel them and I thought I could.

Everyone's different so it could be possible. My Dr. told me I had strong ab muscles (made my day!) but it didn't really affect her finding my uterus or feeling LO kick at our appointment.

My husband finally felt our son kicking from the outside last Sunday. I was 23 weeks. Now he can feel him a lot more when he puts his hands on my tummy.

Being 19 weeks you will probably feel your LO for sure from the outside pretty soon!

Everyone is different. It also depends on the location of the placenta whether or not you will feel the baby as much.
With my first I didn't know if it was flutters or gas but when I got pregnant with my second I knew immediately if it was flutters.
But I didn't feel DS or DD kick or punch until 20 weeks. I promise you will know if you feel a kick. Its something you don't forget.

It seems that in pregnancy next to anything is possible.  As the previous poster said it depends on where your placenta is too.  Mine is in back and so I feel the full effect of movements.  I'm only 17 weeks, but have had a few kicks/body slams that definitely got my attention.  That said I haven't felt them on the outside really other than some tightening here or there that comes and goes.

It's definitely possible. I was feeling small flutters inside, and it was only a couple weeks later that I started to feel it from the outside. I think it can vary from person to person. I think around 20 or 21 weeks, I was feeling solid kicks from the outside. It was a couple more weeks before they were consistent enough for DH to feel them.

My hubby was able to feel our little peanut at 16 weeks so its definitely a possibility! I am almost 21 weeks and people can see the baby kicking me through my clothes!

Enjoy it, its a cool feeling!

What you're describing isn't so much feeling from the outside BEFORE the inside...just that you didn't realize what you were feeling until you felt it from outside. :) This is my second and I definitely felt movement from the outside a week ago (20 weeks).  When I felt it with my hand, it was harder to feel it simultaneously inside, so I was also almost convinced that I was imagining it except that I have experience from last time.  I think it's just that your brain can only focus on one feeling at a time, because I can definitely feel it on the inside when DH is feeling on the outside.

Congrats!
