I fainted last night, trip to the ER

For the first time in my life, I fainted last night! I was in the bathroom with my daughter while she was taking a bath, got up and walked down the hallway to get my cell phone, started feeling really dizzy like drunk and the next thing I know, I wake up to our dog licking my face and my cat biting at my arms! They were trying to wake me up. I have no idea how long I was out. I got up and went into the bathroom with Cadance, I told her that I needed to get her out of the tub and dressed and I fainted again! It was just us two as hubby had left to go to the store. She got out of the tub and by then, I was feeling really short of breath and could hardly talk. I called my Mom and tried to tell her I had fainted but she said she couldn't understand me because I could hardly talk in a sentence. So she did hear I had fainted, DH was gone..she said she was calling the OB on call.  She did, they called her back and said I should go to the ER, asked if he was home yet and said she was going to call an ambulance and then hubby walked in, by then I was panting, could not get a breath! I was scared out of my freaking mind so from what they say, I was hyperventilating! So he comes in and we left for the hospital that is only 2 blocks from where we live. I got in right away, my BP was fine, they checked it with me laying down, sitting and then standing. They tested my blood sugar and it was fine. They checked babies HB and it was 130. They gave me something called Vistaril (sp?) for the dizziness and sent me home. They told me to rest over the weekend and not move or walk quickly and if I have any bleeding or cramping to come back. I never thought something like that would happen to me. I don't know anyone who has ever fainted! The ER doc said it can happen in pregnant women. So have ANY of you ladies ever fainted? I can say with it being just my daughter and I at home, it was one of the scariest things ever besides my car wrecks!

yikes! glad you are okay, I have felt light headed and a dizzy but never have fainted

I fainted once when I wasn't pregnant and everyone asked me if I was!  Dizziness is a symptom of pregnancy that can ramp up during the second trimester - just make sure you're taking care of yourself and listen to your doctor!

I've felt really lightheaded this pregnancy. Thankfully though, no fainting. I would be scared to death, just like you, if that happened, especially if it was when it was just me and DD. Glad to hear you are ok!

Make sure you are drinking enough. i've noticed when I am really lightheaded, I haven't had that much to drink. 
Married my BEST FRIEND on December 1, 2007. Started TTC in March 2008. Found out we were expecting our first child in October 2008 - but had a m/c in December 2008 - resulting in a d&e. When my DD was about 18 months I was changing her diaper at her changing table in the middle of the night.  I started feeling like I was going to pass out so luckily I was able to call out to DH to get DD off the table..crawled to our bedroom and passed out.  Scariest thing ever!  I ended up getting a table tilt test done and I have cardiogenic syncope.  (I wasn't pregnant)  I passed out when they stood me up straight after less than a minute.  So luckily I had a diagnosis and haven't passed out since because I know the signs.  I'm always terrified it will happen when I'm alone with DD.  I get dizzy and have the occasional feeling being pregnant now but try to relax when it starts.  Glad you are both ok!

I had a tilt test when I was in high school. I felt like I was in the basement of the hospital in a tiny closet strapped to a table with fluorescent lights blaring. Luckily everything came back clear, but that test was torture!

Glad you are okay, and your daughter as well. I have a nine month old daughter, and bc I feel faint a lot I am always supervised by DH or nine year old, bc I fear I will faint on her.

Glad you and the kids are okay and that your pets were able to wake you. Twice now I have felt like I could pass out(even though I havent actually) but was able to sit and drink water. I talked to my OB and he said I was probably dehydrated because all my vitals were good.

Thanks everyone for your replies..I am very lucky I didn't hit anything, that I know of! I don't have any sore spots but I am amazed at my animals..I have no idea how long I was out..It was VERY scary! I worry about my poor DD she was so sweet when I got her out of the tub, kept saying it will be alright mama and kissing me..:(
