White noise machine

We currently have a Sleep Sheep that we use at night, but it's hit-and-miss. We are looking for something that works a little better. I downloaded a white noise app on my phone and it works wonders! There are quite a few sound options, but the one called "White Noise" is absolutely amazing. It sounds like static or a hair dryer, and DS goes to sleep almost instantly when I turn it on when he is fighting sleep. The problem is I don't want to leave my phone in his room during his entire nap.

Can anyone suggest a white noise machine that plays a similar sound?

We have the Happiest Baby on the Block cd. I loaded it onto my old iPod and made playlists that loop the hairdryer sound, rain sound, and heartbeat for hours at a time. Works great!

Thanks! I will definitely look into the CD. My cell phone is currently next to his crib and he is sleeping soundly. He woke up and started fussing. I walked in the room, turned it on, and walked out. By the time I made it back to my living room to check the monitor, his eyes were closed. Crazy!

We use this one and the "rain" sound has worked wonders for us.  It can be set for 15, 30, or 60 minutes and has a switch on the back that makes the noise re-start if the baby fusses.  I love that it has a projector too - LO is starting to love the mobile, so watching pictures on the ceiling may help if we have problems with sleep in the future.  I think they also have it at Target (even though the link is Amazon).

I was actually considering this one because it automaticaly restarts if the baby starts to make noise, but I wasn't sure about the sounds. The Sleep Sheep has a rain option and he doesn't seem to like it. The only thing that seems to calm him down immediately is a hair dryer or static sort of noise. I do see that the Munchkin one has a white noise option. I wonder if it sounds similar.

The white noise on it sounds like a static channel on the tv, in my opinion...

We have the Marpac one for DD, but the cheaper Homedics one we bought for DS works just as well. The projector broke after about 3 weeks, but the sound is still working so take FWIW. I like the fact that both of them run continuously all night instead of timing out like the Sleep Sheep

I swear by the Homedics sound machine from Target on the Ocean sound. It also has a projector which is cool and its only $19.99

I actually sleep with a sound machine just like the link below. We use the sleep sheep for DD but I've thought about getting DD a sound machine too bc it lasts all night. The sleep sheep only lasts 20 or 45 mins.

We also have the Marpac for DS1 and it's awesome.  We purchased a Graco sound machine that has white noise, music and a night light for DS2.  It's currently in my room since he's sleeping there and it works great, you can set it on a timer or just turn it on and it will run as long as you need.

We just use an app on one of our Kindles or cell phones. It's called "relax and sleep" we do a combo of brown noise and heart beat on there and it works every time.

I have this one that I use for myself. It is has various nature sounds, and then a "white noise" sound that on the previous model that I had, was called "Waterfall" - it sounds like a waterfall, or a loud fan, something like that. It can be set for 30, 60, 90 minutes, or for non-stop. It also has sound cards you can buy to customize it. I've had it for years and use it every night and it still works great. My cat knocks it off the nightstand on a regular basis, and it still works.

My H is a night owl, so I can't fall asleep easily because he's up and watching TV in our small apartment. Now that I'm pregnant, I've had early-wake insomnia so having it set on "non-stop" helps me not wake up in the middle of the night.

We use a cheap conair sound machine for both DD1 and DD2 on the white noise setting and it works great. They both love it! I got DD2's on amazon not to long ago on amazon for $9.98 so it seems if you watch prices they can drop on occasion (currently $17.98)

 Hope that helps :)
