PP care question hemorrhoids

I am 3w pp and today I woke up with my butt hurting, it is bright red around my anus and hurts. I am wondering if its from hemorrhoids. Anyone else have this? What did you do to releive the pain?

I got pp hemorrhoids.  Not fun!  The hospital sent me with Tucks pad and cortisone cream, but it didn't seem to help at all.  I was desperate for something to help and found good reviews for Earth Mama Angel Baby brand cream called Mama Bottom Balm.  This stuff is fantastic!  It instantly gives this cooling, soothing relief that is SO wonderful.  I cannot tell you how great this stuff is!

I had crazy PP hemorrhoids while trying to heal my stitches from 2nd degree tearing. I seriously thought my butthole was inside out. I bought hemorrhoid cream from Walmart for .99 in their .99 medicine section and it worked wonders. I was sent home from the hospital with mini no-brand tucks pads and they sucked. I ended up buying Tucks brand pads and they were wonderful on my stitches, not so much on the hemorrhoids. I was also taking Tylenol like it was my job and that helped with the pain and swelling. Feel better!

I don't know if a doctor would actually recommend this, but I used Preparation H suppositories. (I had a c-section, though.) I had a hemorrhoid before ever getting pregnant, and the suppositories were the only thing that brought down the swelling- helping alleviate the pain. Everything I've read says to use ice packs or cream, so I'd check with a doctor before trying them.
