Where did my follies go??

At my baseline on Friday there were 11 tiny ones, all about the same size. Today only 6 of the 11 are growing.

I'm waiting to hear from the doctor if I need to change any dosages or anything and I have a bunch of questions for her.

But in the meantime, I'm freaking just a little. Has this happened to anyone before? I'm wondering if my meds are messed up or something. Is there still a chance more will come into play? I know I'm not out of it with 6 growing but I'm super bummed that I didn't have more. :-(

I've been monitoring too. Last Wednesday I only had 3 measurable and a bunch of small ones. Friday was 5 measurable and small ones and today was 11 measurable and small ones.

I would say 6 is a good number for so early!!
Me - 35 DH - 37 SD - 10
Married 10/8/2011
Started TTC July 2011. Infertility workup July & August 2012.
DH - all clear. Me - Unicornuate Uterus discovered at HSG 8/16/12. Referred for IVF 8/28/12. Approved for IVF Warranty Program 10/2/12. Laparoscopy 11/1/12 - removed right rudamentary horn, both tubes, left ovarian cyst and endometriosis. Given all clear for pregnancy after 1/1/2013.
IVF cycle 1 starts 1/19/13!
12 eggs, 7 mature and all 7 fertilized - 2 Frosties!!
5 day SET 2/4/13 - Beta 2/13: 86 & 2/15: 186 BFP!!!!

I'm so sorry you're starting this with a bad feeling. I really hope that those missing follies are just being a bit lazy and will still catch up. Maybe your doctor will be able to give you a satisfying explanation or change your meds or something. Good luck for the next appointment!

Me: 33, Hypothalamic Amenorrhea, DOR (AMH .35), DH: 38, Borderline low morph
5/09- Off BCP, 5/09-9/09- No period, 9/09-9/10- Lots of Tests & accupuncture
10/10 and 11/10- 2 rounds of Menopur + TI= BFNS
12/10-IUI #1 Menopur = BFN
1/11- IUI #2 Menopur = BFP, 2/11 missed mc at 9 weeks, D&C
5/11- Operative Hysteroscopy to remove uterine septum
6/11- IUI #3 Menopur = BFP, 8/11 missed mc at 11 weeks, D&C
1/12- Lap and Operative Hysteroscopy to remove uterine septum (again) & scar tissue
2/12- Stint Removal, 3/12 repeat SHG and HSG- showed scar tissue blocking right tube
4/12- Operative hysteroscopy (again), RE said he can now see right tube (yay!)
5/12- Stint removal, 6/12 repeat SHG and HSG-both tubes are open!
8/12- IUI #4 Bravelle = BFN
9/12-IUI #5 Bravelle = BFN
1/13- IVF #1, micro-flare protocol, 7R, 6F, 5dt of 2 AA embryos, 1 to freeze = BFP
Beta #1: 176, Beta #2: 422, EDD 10/8/13- it's TWINS!

Did they say they're there but just not growing? or they only counted a total of 6 follies today and can't find the others??  My follie count changed a lot because my left ovary likes to play hide and seek on the U/S techs....so if its the latter then maybe that's the case. Hope so!!!  Either way, GL :)

Absolutely no idea when we can cycle again...looking into DE as well if IVF#4 fails again

8/1/12 - IVF #1 - Zero response from max stims (600iu intramuscularly)
My ovaries seem to be just for decoration

12/6/12 - Adopted five embryos that had been frozen for over ten years!
2/11/13 - Thawed four, sadly two didn't survive. Transferred two beautiful blasts.

2/16/13 - First BFP of my life!
3/27/13 - No heartbeat at 9w0d. D&C the following day.

4/23/13 - Matched to adopt five new embryos!

They saw all 11, but only 6 were growing. The rest were the same size they were on Friday - tiny.

I hope some more start growing!

Yeah I've seen lots of girls post about this same situation and they were surprised when at ER some more had caught up and they were viable! I think sometimes there is so many in there they are all squished up together and they can't get perfect measurements! Hopefully that is your case and you will have lots to work with!!! Be happy for the six because at least it's not two or something!!!!

Try not to get down about the 6 that are growing! And try not to compare yourself to the lucky ladies who have huge numbers. (that is still always hard for me!)

This was just your first monitoring appointment. There is definitely a chance that others could catch up. How big were your biggest follicles today?  For my last egg retrieval - I think I only had 3 follicles over 10mm on my first monitoring appointment.  I felt so disappointed. I did end up having 5 at retrieval day - so a few did catch up. I did stim a couple days longer this time, and then my Dr. added ganrilex to prevent me from ovulating while the others caught up. 

Keep us posted on how things are going - and hang in there!
Me:38 - TTC for 3+years - Multiple failed IUIs (w/clomid, femara,injectibles - all BFNs) IVF #1 - Jan 2012, CP -IVF#2 March 2012, CP - Went back to IUIs all summer. Multi-Cycle Egg banking for FET. Egg retrieval #1 October, 2 frosties. Retrieval#2 January 2013. 6 eggs banked - waiting to be fertilized in March, FET March! FET - cancelled because zero eggs survived thaw process. April IUI, BFP - Beta #1 - 43, Beta #2 - 78, Beta #3 dropped, another CP. May IUI with Femara.

Thank you, that helps. I can't remember how big they were, I'll ask when they call back. They weren't HUGE, they were just a bit bigger than the teeny weeny ones that she said 'don't count'.

Plus, some of us just never get as many mature follies as our AFC.  I'm not sure why, and it sucks, but it's not unusual. 
Me: 39. DH: 41. TTC since 2009.
FSH: 9.5 at highest. AMH (11/2011): 0.9. AFC: 10ish. HSG: Normal. SA: Normal.
July 2011 - Feb. 2012: 2 Clomid/TI cycles; 3 injectables/IUI cycles. Good response but BFNs.
Dec. 2011: Laparoscopy (clear) + hysteroscopy to remove uterine polyp.

April 2012: IVF #1: FSH 9.2, AFC 7-8. Antagonist protocol.
Started stims (300iu Gonal-F, 150iu Menopur) 3/28.
Added ganirelix 4/1. Trigger 4/5 (7 follies). ER 4/7: 7R, 0M, 0F. :-(

Nov. 2012: IVF #2: Long Lupron protocol.
Started Lupron 10/27. AFC 10+. Started stims (300iu Follistim, 150iu Menopur) 11/8.
Trigger 11/18 (7 follies). ER 11/20: 9R, 1M, 1F. 3dt of my one 6-cell embie on 11/23: BFN.

Dec. 2012: Hail Mary IUI cycle with leftover IVF meds: BFN.

Feb. 2013: IVF #3: Estrogen priming protocol.
Pre-AF: estro patch + ganirelix. AFC 8-10. Started stims (450 Follistim, 150 Menopur) 1/28.
Added ganirelix 2/4. Combined Lupron/HCG trigger 2/10 (6-ish follies).
ET 2/12: 6R, 1M, 1F w/rescue ICSI. My embie didn't make it. :-(

July 2013: DE IVF #1

PAIF/SAIF/PA35 welcome.
