am I the only one happy about going back to work?

I see a lot of posts about how unhappy moms are about going back to work and how much their would rather quit and stay home with LO but can't for various reasons.  I am not a stay a home mom kinda gal.  I like my free time ( well the drive back and forth to work), the career atmosphere, getting promotions, business travel, and generally the accomplished feeling from turning in projects or completing a goal.  I feel like I would go nuts at home.  When I was a house wife after getting laid off for the 2nd time I went nuts.  I wanted to stay at home with my kids for a year and then go back to work but in my industry thats pretty much a career killer.  I have so much respect for the SaHM.  Yall put me to shame.

I have a friend who is a Stay at home mom and she loves it.  She truly does and wants more kids.  She is a great mom and has the patience of a goddess.  I just don't have it in me lol. She gets bored every so often especially now that her youngest is almost 2.

I can't be the only one who is ready to go back am I?

I'm going back part time and I think it will be the perfect balance between being home with the babies and getting adult stimulation. However, the thought of waking up early, after being up a couple times in the night, and getting myself ready and then two babies in the car and out to daycare by 8:30 was enough for me to push my start date back another month!

I am loving the idea of work. I have been a SAHM for 10 months with my 2 year old and now 1 month old, and as much as I love spending time with them, I know my 2 year old misses daycare and child interaction, and I miss adult conversations. Lol. I feel a little bad, but at the same time it's good for them to get the social interaction with kids their own age!

I wish I had a job to go back to!  We moved about the middle of my pregnancy, and since I was due less than 4 months after we got settled, I decided to wait on a job (also waiting to see if I got accepted to a masters program).  I'm kind of regretting that now.  I am going CRAZY.  I still live in the delusional world where I actually start AND finish cleaning a room of the house (DS only naps for max 45 minutes right now...ugh).

I can honestly say that I cannot wait to start my Masters program in the fall!! Having DS to take care of and something that isn't housework, will be wonderful!

The only reason I am NOT ready is sleep schedule.. LO doesn't go to sleep before midnight (unless there's a secret to getting them to go to sleep when you want to [ideally, 10 PM] that I haven't discovered yet) and wakes up like clockwork at 4:50 AM every morning. I work 12 hour shifts (7AM-7PM) three to four days a week and I'm on my feet all day. I'm not ready to face those 12 hour shifts on 4 hours of sleep yet, not to mention when I get home at 7, I'm usually ready to go to bed at about 9 or 10 because I'm so tired. I'm actually really apprehensive about this whole scenario. Luckily I have about 5 more weeks to get it figured out before I go back to work, but otherwise, HELL YES I'M READY.

I love my 2-3 shifts a week and was happy to go back.

My thought is, if Dh had a job where we could go to Mom and Baby yoga 3x a week then I would be all over it. Staying at home on a budget? Not my thing.

I dont love that he is in daycare this young, but Im glad he'll be in it when he is older.

With my first LO I was bored and ready to go back to work. She slept a lot and there's only so much cleaning you can do. This time, I am terrified. I am exhausted, my house is a wreck, and I have no idea how I'm going to get all 3 of us out of the door in the morning without me waking up at the crack of dawn. I would be a terrible SAHM though, I need adult conversations and I truly love my job and working with the kids.

I do not want to go back - ever.  I really don't like my job though - maybe if I did, I'd feel differently.  I am happy being at home and I would prefer to never work again!! :)  Financially, not an option!

I'm more than ready! I was ready after DD1, but it made more sense to SAH than lose money by going back to work. By the time DS was born I appreciated having the time with my kids, but still craved the me time and really wanted to be working... So I went back to school to work on my masters one class at a time. Now, I am just ready to have my life and personality back... I love my kids, and feel guilty for saying that, but I have a similar personality to what you described... As a family it has made sense for me to SAH the past 3 years because DH accepted a temporary position and we moved extremely far away from home temporarily and I just didn't want to get invested in something I knew I was going to have to walk away from. I'm sad I won't see and experience as much with DD2, but I also feel like I've given all I possibly can to the 24/7 mommy thing and it's in everyone's best interest if mommy has a little out of the house changing the world time :

I had 4 months off when DS was born. Even though I cried dropping him off at daycare I was definitely ready to go back. Now, I will be staying home for 9 months with a newborn and a 2 year old. I'm glad that we can afford it, and because of my husbands work schedule I wanted to take a long time off. However, I can already tell I will be VERY ready to go back when the time comes. I miss the mental stimulation of working and having a career where I feel successful and productive. I realize that I appreciate my kids a lot more when we have some time apart.

At 6 weeks I am so not ready for full time, but I do kinda miss the fast paced environment and excitement. I've even taken the baby to visit a couple times, but don't want to go too much with all the flu and stuff going around-I work in ER. Ideally, I would love to do 1-2 short shifts a week, but here you get up to a year leave, and when you go back, you're back full time. I'm planning on going back at 11 months. When I have more kids I'd probably be a SAHM and work casual to keep my licence current.

DH has been home since DD was born (Jan 14) and is going back soon (Feb 12.)  He keeps saying he is ready to go back and i see it.  His patience for DS is gone.  I'm counting the days!!

Me?  I'd love to work part time, but that isn't happening.  We need both of our full time paychecks unfortunately.  I remember the days of being exhausted at work when DS was up all night and then going to work..... ugh.

There are lots of things I enjoy with being at home (right now I'm working part-time from home but will be back in the office full-time in about two weeks) and I  know that I would be a good SAHM but I enjoy my career so I am looking forward to going back.  My job isn't one that I can leave and just go back to in a few years so I always knew I would continue to work.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then success with condoms! Who would ever have guessed.

I am still on my first week of maternity leave, but I'm sure by the end of 15 weeks, I will feel the same way.  I know that with DD, after 4 months off, I was ready to go back to work.  Not that I don't love my time home with the kids, but I miss the sense of accomplishment in the professional world.  Plus, being home leads to too much shopping and home improvement projects which cost money that I'm not currently making! LOL
