pantyliners?

are pantyliners ok to wear? having a lot of discharge and dont want to change underwear 10 times a day lol. i assume they are but just making sure!

It's not that bizarre. I had an OB one time tell me that panti liners actually trap the moisture in more than just regular old panties and changing them. We were discussing yeast infections at the time and keeping that area dry.

Personally, I prefer a panti liner to changing undies a gazzilion times a day when having "issues".

People often reply with snark because they don't realize it's masking ignorance. I don't think I'm an expert on anything and most of the time I'm open to new information...unless I'm in biitch mode, then there are no promises, lol.

I read somewhere that keeping the moisture close to that area isn't a great idea. That said, I've worn them everyday for my last two pregnancies. I am not prone to yeast infections though. Not sure if that would make a difference.

Yes, in terms of what the PP said about trapping moisture, I would recommend the Always pantiliners with Driweave or whatever.  I am not a fan of extra moisture and also, it's not a good time to promote a vaginal/yeast infection by not staying dry.  Knocking on wood, but I have yet to have a vaginal health issue so far at 32 weeks and I would like to keep it that way :)  I think the choice of pantiliners is key for you if you are concerned.  Stay away from fragrance and the ones that are flimsy.  I also like the Carefree with Actifresh, they aren't scented but keep everything "pleasant" down there.  The only thing is, they are thinner and don't hold up to excessive discharge.

thanks to the people that actually answered my question.  i am def gonna use them cause dont have enough undies to change 5 times a day lol

Yep, this.

I frequently have had yeast infections this pregnancy. Like, way more than a normal pregnancy, I feel like, and each time this issue is always discussed. My doctor is always reminding me not to wear a panty liner with a yeast infection.

OP, if you don't feel that you have a yeast infection, then panty liners are generally okay to wear.

My ob told me this the other day.

I wanted to ask him who does the laundry in his house because clearly only someone who DOESN'T do laundry would suggest scrubbing 3x as many pairs of undies.

I wear the Always ultrathin which have a more cottony top.  I cannot wear anything that feels more plasticy since I'm really sensitive down there.

you know you can still get a yeast infection during your period, right? So how would it not be any different as a possibility for shedding your uterine lining post partum?

Personally, I have been lucky to not have a ton of discharge, so no need for panty liners here. That, and I feel like my va-jay-jay can't breathe with them on, no matter how often they are changed...  
Life was wonderful before you came along. Now I can't imagine how much more spectacular it will be when you come into our lives.

Yep, ok to wear. Or have been for me anyways. I use the really small Poise, simply because they pull double duty for me. :) I have a very light bladder issue sometimes, ever since having DS. I am a little confused as to why one of the above people said not to wear a pantiliner while you have a yeast infection.. when you're taking Monistat for it you get some pretty crazy discharge, you know that medicine has to come out.. I'd rather not have it all over panties.. lol

I won't get in the snark, but I do have this to say: My OB and GP both told me that liners were fine, as long as I changed them as often as I would if I had my period. To me, that's a "fresh" one every two hours. I go through them like crazy, but I haven't had issues at all, and I'm almost on my 22nd week of discharge out of the whole pregnancy. Plusalso, it's been a life saver when I can't make it fast enough to the bathroom. Somehow, my ability to tell I need to pee has vanished.

Yeah, TMI for some. Oh well!

Oh, I agree. When the OB told me that I went ahead and wore the pantiliner anyway because it was more comfortable. I was just posting what the OB had told me regarding them.

I have never had a yeast infection, so I have no idea what a doctor's instructions woul dbe for treating one, but I have worn pantyliners for pretty much my entire pregnancy (and am changing them more often now than earlier on) with no issues.  I can't stand the feeling of wet panties.
