Newbie question about temping...

I dont EVER get a good nights sleep, I'm up 2-3 times per night to go to the bathroom or just because Im awake, so there's no way Ill get 3-5 hours of sleep pper night. Is it possible my readings will still be accurate as long as I sleep the same every night?

It's hard to say. If you get close to the same amount of sleep every night before temping in the morning, your temps might be consistent enough to see a temp shift. It's worth a try to see if it works out for you.

You're probably going to have to do some trial & error. For some people, getting a consistent number of hours of sleep provides the most accurate info, no matter what time they temp. For others, temping at the same time (regardless of how many hours they slept prior) is better.

Agree with PPers.  I have insomnia, my sleeping pattern sucks.  I test at 5:00am no matter what, and even though my chart has lots of ugly open circles, I still get a very identifiable ovulation pattern.  Give it a try and see if it works for you.

This exactly for me, I'm a horrible sleeper and still see a clear pattern when I temp.

I am the same way! I wake up a lot during the night! I took 25mg of Benadryl last night and slept a lot better.. Was able to take a temp after a good solid block of sleep. I was going to post and ask if that med would make a difference in temp. but I figured the pro probably outweighed the con. Does anyone know?

I generally use the bathroom sometime between 2 and 4 am with a 6:30 wakeup and temp at 6:30 every day...so far I am still getting definitive CH's and temp shift.  I think that since I am "consistant" with my bathroom habits (without trying to be consistent!), its kind of a wash.
