How soon to have baby around other kids

I have a 2 year old DS and a 3 week old DD. The second I took DS to daycare for half days he got a cold, so I am hesitant to take DD to daycare a second sooner than she has to go. However, I know her brother can bring home germs.

Her brother has some activities he usually does such as library story time, and I signed him up for an Art Class. But I have to take DD with me unless I get the mother's helper to watch her. I am breastfeeding too so that makes it complicated, and the programs are in the evening, so I would pick up DS from daycare feed him, feed baby and then leave for the activity. So should I take DD to these activities or just skip them until she goes to daycare (end of March)?

I never had an issues with DS's first cold and actually DD has a cold now too, but DS ended up in the hospital for a severe cold when he was 4 months old, so I am trying to avoid that.  I am hoping that if I can make it through the winter than most of the severe illnesses will be over by the time DD starts daycare.

I have no problem taking DD to a store or restaurant its more the other kids that are germ factories that are the problem.  But maybe at activities like library program and art class are less of a germ factory than day care?  I didn't get out much with DS, so I was trying to prevent that with DD but I don't want push it too much.

It's hard when you have a newborn in the winter. I kept my first daughter pretty sheltered for the first 2 months or so (she was born in January) but now that I have 2 older kids in preschool, it's much harder  to do thatthis time around. I did keep my older kids out of preschool for one month when we first brought the baby home (it worked out well being over Christmas break) but started sending them to all of their normal activities when our baby was 4 weeks old. The older kids just know the first thing they do went they get home/get in the car is wash their hands.

I couldn't keep DD out of her brothers faces.  I didn't take the boys out of the house until they were a month old.

I'm trying to limit how much time we spend around other kids (DD and I used to go and do something almost every day).  I have started going to story-time at the library once a week though just because I feel bad keeping DD away from children all together.  I keep DS in the car seat, cover it with a nursing cover so no one coughs on him and wash our hands when we get to the car.  That being said though we are all just getting over having a cold including DS (thankfully he never got a fever, yay for BFing), so I might not be the best person to ask.

I'm nervous about DD getting sick, but I don't base our lives around it. The older two go to preschool 3 days a week, and the other 4 days we are out and about. We wash hands very frequently and try to keep DD in the ergo further away from the kids and others or in her stroller as sheltered as possible. DS had RSV at 2 months old because DD brought it home from daycare... It definitely wasn't fun, but we caught it early and he was fine. As a school teacher germs don't scare me... I don't want to be reckless, but building up immunities helps by the time a child is school aged IMO. On another note, I think most kids get sick when they start daycare no matter what age or time of year.
