Can you use a "rememberance name" twice?

Both mine and DH's grandfathers were Daniel.  We both actually love the name.  Situation is that when we had our second daughter, we were thinking we were done and would never have a boy, so we honored Daniel and gave my daughter the middle name of Danielle.  Here we are pregnant again, and while we are team green, can not decide on a boys name that we can agree on at all.  The only one we seem to like is Daniel!  But would that be weird since we used it for DD2?  When I say we cant agree on anything...I mean NOTHING.  We have seriously went through every possible boys name that we could think of and read...I am just at a complete loss....

I guess you could, but I'd feel a little bit guilty if I reused the same name, like no one else in either of our families was worthy of a namesake, kwim?

I'd keep Daniel on your list, but you still have a lot of time, I'd keep looking to see if you can find another name you like.

As it's your DD's middle name, I don't see the problem with using it if you have a boy.

I knew brothers in high school and college who actually had the same first name.  ALL the boys (I think there were 4) were given their dad's first name and went by their middle name.  Kind of like what George Foreman did w/ his kids.

While I find that obnoxious (how narcissistic does a person need to be to name EVERY child of theirs after themselves?!) - what you want to do doesn't phase me.

I think it's fine-- esp if both are going to be used in the MN spot.  I actually even this it's fine if you use Daniel in the FN spot since you have Danielle in the MN spot.

I think it's a little weird, but as long as you don't already call your daughter Dani, it's probably fine. Most people won't notice. And it's an important family name, so it has meaning beyond "Mom and Dad just really, really liked this name."

Since you're talking about technically different names and they're for opposite sex kids, it's okay.  My ILs named DH (first son) Jacob Michael and then named their 4th son Michael Garrett.  MIL likes to joke, "we named our oldest after his youngest brother".  Every time she says that I cringe. :/  I'd probably keep trying to find something you both love but if you don't, use Daniel!

If it is DD's middle name, I wouldn't think twice about using it if it is a name you both love.

I know a family with three sons: the oldest shared dad's FN (but went by his middle name), and the second and third sons both shared dad's MN. That's a bit much. But you using two separate names for two separate genders, especially since one is in the MN spot, I think is fine.

Didn't George Foreman name all of his sons "George"? :)

Srsly, though, I have no problem reusing names in this way.  I'm the youngest child in my family, and by the time they got to me, they were out of namesakes.  My sister and cousins all have namesake names, and it used to hurt my feelings when I was little.

We had some friends who named their son Ashton and their daughter Asha, which kind of raised some eyebrows, but those were their first names.

I don't think it's a problem at all to use Daniel for a son, since you don't call your Danielle. If you did, then I'd think it was weird.

Well, if Danielle is a middle name, then I'd name my son Daniel since it's the original name both you and your husband have been wanting for a son.

My MN is my older sister's FN. I joke it's because my parents got lazy but I actually really like the connection.

I'd keep thinking about it to see what else you can come up with, because you do have time, but at the end of the day, if it is her mn and his first, it wouldn't be the worst possible thing.

I would think it was odd if you had a Danielle and a Daniel.  But with Danielle in the MN spot, I don't think it's a big deal at all.  I'd do it.

My thoughts exactly. And in addition: Danielle and Daniel are different names.
