registry question

When attending others' baby showers do you typically see things on their registry like breast pads, lanolin, soothies, extra pump parts, etc? Basically anything related to breast feeding. I'm a little stumped over this and I'm finishing my registry. Wondering if these are appropriate items to add and if anyone purchases gift like these anyway? Thanks, ladies.

Add them!  I see them all the time ans would (and have) absolutely purchase them.  Plus....completion discount!  :)

Yes, I've seen them, and added them myself. I don't think it's inappropriate.

I think it's up to your comfort level- if you feel embarrassed about it, then wait until after your shower to add them for the completion discount.  I personally added them, and often buy smaller items (lanolin, soothies, etc.) to put in a basket for the mom when I attend showers.

Several people did buy pump accessories, etc. for me at my shower, and I was very happy to get them.  I do have a lot of friends that are nurses, though, so maybe they are less squeamish.

I added them and got lots of breast feeding stuff. The only thing I didn't register for ahead of time but will after my last shower is nursing bras.

I am going to register for all that plus maybe even some nursing camis.  I think it's totally appropriate.

Thank you. It definitely doesn't embarass me so I will be adding these items before the shower!

It's been a mixed bag for me, some people do, others do not.  I personally didn't have them on my registries, but I don't think it's innappropriate at all.

If you want to be able to use the completion discount, add them after the shower.

I did it, and I know others who've had.  I've never bought them, but doesn't mean others wouldn't.  If I had more of a succesful BF experience I think it would be a good idea to pass onto another new mom all the essentials of what worked for me.

Before you register for a breast pump, I suggest looking into your hospital and see if you can rent one from there. Also check into your insurance. Some insurances help cover the cost of certain pumps. Personally I would rent one if available. Realistically bf'ing might not work for you and I would hate to buy a pump it receive one and not need it.

I have seen them and I have seen people buy them. I think it makes perfect sense for a registry. Some people like to buy cute things but a lot of people like to buy useful things. If you might need them, add them.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it - people add bottles if they're formula feednig (or even if they're BFing) so it's just another feeding supply.
