Do you ever have to fudge your FF data? & Chart stalk?

This is my 3rd cycle charting, and I need a little advice.  On CD 14 I had a random high-ish temp of 97.58.  After entering the next several days of data I really think I O'd on CD 15 but I don't get CH unless I change that one high temp to 97.3.  Does anyone else ever have to mess with the temps a little to get CH?  Or maybe I O'd on CD 14 and my CD15 temp was low for some odd reason?  Maybe I didn't O at all yet?

I do temp at the same time every day but I very rarely have a 3 hour block of sleep prior to it, thanks to my kids, dog, DH, bladder, etc.   I know it's not ideal but it's the best I can do until my kids start sleeping better.

Also, I've had very small rises in temps the other 2 cycles that I charted, but enough for FF to detect O.

1.  Dont mess with your temps.

2.  Even if you put in dummy temps, they're just that.  Your body may do something totally different.

3.  Personally I think it's almost more important to get 3 hours of sleep before you temp vs temping at the same time every day.  Maybe you need to set your alarm earlier to make sure you're getting that solid sleep.

When you wake up the first time, take your temp. You might see a difference. It's important to have that sleep beforehand.

The only time I really get a 3 hour block of sleep is when I first go to bed.  So you're saying that maybe I should be temping at like 1 or 2am?  Anytime after that our bedroom is like a revolving door of kids and pets.  I can certainly try that next cycle to see if it helps.

Don't fudge your chart. Period.

I also agree that a solid block of sleep is more important than temping at the same time, for me personally anyway. But everyone is different.

I agree with jefa, the only thing I mess with on my chart are the times that I temp.  I have it set to the same time every day even though I never temp at the same time.  I work nights and my sleep schedule is all over the place so I just temp after any 3 hrs or more of sleep.  This can happen at multiple times during the day for me so rather than having a bunch of empty circles I just make notes on the days where I get less than 3 hr blocks of sleep.

If I were you I would wait a few more days to make sure your temps stay above the coverline and then if they do, just discard that higher temp, or if they dont, leave it and assume you havent O'd yet.

I agree with PPs - don't change your temps. You might get CH's in a few days. They don't always show up at 3 DPO. It might take FF a little more time to detect the sustained shift.

I also think it would be worth it to try setting an alarm for 1 or 2 AM if that's when you've been sleeping for the longest amount of time. For me, there is definitely a change in my temps when I haven't been sleeping for a few hours straight even if I temp at the normal time.

This for me too.  I'm a horrible sleeper, insomniac at the best of times, and I've found that my most consistent temps are when I take them after my biggest block of sleep no matter when that is.  Usually for me that's around 3 or 4 or 5 am when I first wake up, but it's never really consistent - but I've still always seen a definite temp shift at ovulation. I also don't input a time (I just click on N/A), otherwise I'd constantly have open circles.

I will sometimes use the Temperature Corrector if I wake up earlier or later than usual. The waking temp goes on my chart, and then I put the corrected temp in my notes.

What is the Temperature Corrector?  Don't know that I've heard about that before.

That's why when I do use it, I put the "corrected" temp in my notes, not my chart. Wink
