Holy itching

So I have had a little bit of vaginal itching on and off the last week or so. I went to the dr today for my normal checkup but forgot to mention it. No sooner than 30 minutes leaving the dr office it started in like crazy! Not to get too graphic, but it is mainly itching on the outer part/labia and not internal. No weird discharge or anything. I first thought yeast infection but not so sure. I also feel a couple tiny bumps. I called the dr but waiting to hear back. Anyone else experience this? I've heard ph levels can change in pregnancy causing things like this. Sorry tmi!

could be a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis.

Have you been using pads or panty liners regularly? I developed a sensitivity to them with my first pregnancy and had to switch to a disposable cotton kind from a health food store.

Yeah I use them pretty much 24/7. I didn't think about that. I'll switch or try to go without them to see if it helps. Thanks!

I have this too. I did ask the Dr. and he checked it out. He said it doesn't look like a yeast infection but it looks like chapped dry skin. He said that it could be from my liners. Some days I don't really have any itching and others, like last night, OMG it is unbearable. I couldn’t fall asleep for like 2 hours it was so itchy and painful I wanted to cry. He told me that I could use vagisil as it will help with the itching.

It sounds like we're in the same boat. I had to literally ice down my vagina earlier. I felt like I was going to go insane! Now it just feels raw and hurts. Itching is a tad better right now. I wear liners all the time and feel like I might not change them often enough (gross, sorry) so maybe that is the issue. I'm just going to keep at it with the vagisil and hope it goes away. Sucks.

i used to get yeast infections regularly - i never had discharge but always itchy and swollen

Since i have been prego i have had bacterial vaginosis once and the only thing that changed was i had a slight odor after sex (sorry tmi) but no discharge or anything else.

they give meds for both  - both safe for baby.

also - vagisil (or store brand works just as well) really helps with the itching

I have something similar.  No discharge, just outer itching, mostly on the clitoris.  my doctor said it was from moisture from the excess discharge from pregnancy and it was irrated.  He said to use a little bit of monistat cream on the itchy, swollen parts.  I bought the store brand and it worked within 3 days.

Thanks ladies! The doctor called in a diflucan pill which I took today. Hopefully it will work quickly. I have also been using a mixture of vagisil and hyrdocordisone cream (as directed by doctor). It helps for a bit but then the itching sets in again. I have even gone so far as to apply a washcloth with ice down there. Numb is better that itchy!
