Why do people feel the need to post the "not to be a downer" stuff... let her be excited. The baby will come when the baby is ready... we all get that but it's still exciting (especialy for FTMs) to have progress and to think things will happnen soon. I am not even dilated but I am still hopefully that this little guy will come sooner rather than later.
False hope sux. So does disappointment after being super excited. I don't think anyone posts such things out of mean spiritedness, but rather realism based on their own experiences. I think they're just trying to be helpful.
For instance, I got a bunch of Gerber prefolds for really cheap and bragged about it on the CD board. Yeah, I was excited, but I was grateful to all the ladies who gently let me know that Gerber prefolds are essentially useless as diapers, but work great as burp clothes. I believe they saved me from a lot of poopy dismay later on!
