Ultrasound today -- Not good???

Hi,

I had my first ultrasound today, at 8 weeks 1 day.  I'm pretty sure of my dates, as I was using an OPK and keeping track of periods.  (LMP day 1 on Christmas, due date October 1).  There was no heartbeat and baby was only measuring 6 weeks.  I have been spotting today, but today was the first time I was spotting and it wasn't too heavy... light brown. 

Any chance this is anything other than a miscarriage?  The doc said I just have to wait and see.  I feel like 2 weeks off would be a lot at this point.  She scheduled another ultrasound for next Thursday but that's a long time to wait.  Anyone have experience with this?  Would I get more responses if I posted this somewhere other than first tri?  I don't mean to be a downer but my DH and I only know so much and I need opinions.  I'm going crazy over here.

I went in for my first ultrasound at 6w1d and was measured at 4w5d.  That was last Friday.  Unfortunately, all you can do is wait.  Going by your LMP is not accurate unless you know that you ovulated at the 14 day mark.  Try not to stress and remain calm.  You probably just O'd later.  My f/u U/S is next Tuesday.  Praying over the bean now to have a heartbeat then.

It's scary and confusing when you don't see what you expect.... Waiting is SO hard. You may be off a little on your side and ultrasound especially early can be off a little too. Just be patient, pray and don't do too much research online. I hope the best for you.

You can get positive surges on OPK's without having actually ovulated. When was your first positive pregnancy test?

I didn't know that OPKs could be positive without ovluation.  My first positives were January 20 (took a few tests, of course!)

With your positive pregnancy test being so early, it seems like you should be a little further along. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! If there is one thing I've learned in all of my time lurking and participating on the bump, it's that crazy things have happened. GL, soxfan!

Good luck! I know next Thursday sounds and feels so far away, but she wants to make sure that if all is okay that the baby has time to develop. I hope it all turns out okay.

Good luck to you! Are they following your hcg? That could be helpful to make sure it's still going up.

did your Dr do any bloodwork? this would be able to maybe say where you are too.  sorry you are going through this-- hopefully your dates are just wrong

They said they didn't want to do bloodwork because sometimes after 8 weeks your levels go down, anyway?  I don't know.  At least they're doing another ultrasound next week, but it still sucks.  Thanks for all the responses... We'll see what happens.  I'm hoping that this works out...

Your levels don't go down...they do slow down though and don't double as fast as when you are 4 or 5 weeks.

I was 4 days off on my date cause I ovulate late, I have pcos. I pray that God will keep you and your unborn baby safe.

When i got my u/s, I measured a week behind based on lmp but knew that would be the case based on when I had sex. I obviously ovulated late. I got my bfp on jan 13, 9 to 10 days after conception. You could have ovulated late as well.

I am going to share my story and it will hopefully give you some hope:

1st US: 7 weeks according to LMP-baby measured 5w6d couldn't detect heartbeat 

2nd US 2 weeks later: baby measured at 6w 5d with strong heartbeat (only grew 6 days worth in 2 weeks!!)

3rd US 6 days later: baby measured at 7w4d with 140 bpm (grew correct amount)

4th US: baby should've been 9w5d based on last measurements, measured at 10w4d!!

It appears our bean is catching up, and my doctor has now officially admitted that she might not have gotten accurate measurements in the early stages as being off by 1mm can mean a whole week off!!!

Good luck and I hope this gives you some hope! And stay off of google!!!!!
