13 week ultrasound - thoughts?

We had the NT scan last week and got great news that baby looks great! Everything measured well within normal range and baby was very active.

The ultrasound tech also told us were are having a boy. We are happy either way, but I'm not so sure I'm convinced yet because it's so early.

I would be unconvinced too. Unless you have a very good technician (and the perfect shot) the penis and clitoris look remarkably similar at 13 weeks.

At any rate, there's a 50% chance, so early congratulations if it is a boy :). Just don't paint the nursery just yet lol!

At 13 weeks they still look similar. I wouldn't put much promise in it. 50% chance they are correct!

Congrats on a great NT scan.

Honestly, I just found out we are team blue and this looks a lot like my 13 week "potty shot".

Definitely wait to confirm but I'd guess "boy" as well.

This.  The vulva is still swollen at this point in pregnancy.  

Began TTC #1 in January 2011
Confirmation and Removal of Endo - March 2012
+#1 on 4/1/12 - m/c @ ~8w 5d
+#2 Tx cycle 4 - 5 mg Letrozole + 75iu Follsitim & Ovidrel w/ IUI on 11/13/12 - EDD 7/23/13
7 week u/s revealed THREE babies, all with heartbeats. 153bpm, 148bpm, and 136bpm
9 week u/s revealed loss of Baby B. A and C are growing on track. A measuring 9w1d with 172bpm and C measuring 9w0d with 179 bpm.
Elective sex determination u/s on 2/8 revealed... boy AND girl!

Potty shots mean nothing at 13w. I swore my DD had a big old wang when we had our NT with her. Obviously, nay. Both sexes have genital nubs at that gestational age.

Gender predictions in the 11 to 14w window have to do with the angle of the genital protrusion in relevance to the spine. Your tech may well be right, or maybe not. Don't paint. :]

Too early. I would wait until the anatomy scan. I've seen at least two posters who were told one thing but the baby ended up being the other at the anatomy scan. They seemed really disappointed.

My tech guessed boy for fun at an ultrasound I had at about 12w, but I didn't really think much about it. I really have a feeling it's a girl. I'll find out next month!

This.  I've seen posters who got electives at 15 and 16 weeks who were told the wrong sex.

Same thing happened to us today and they also said they were pretty certain it was a boy. Looks a lot like our "its a boy" pic :. Congrats!

I posted a very similar post on 1st tri and have had two people insist its too early.  The u/s tech and dr gave me a high level of confidence....not so sure why people insist on being contrarians.  Obviously there is a chance they are wrong....there always is.
