Who puked?

In our birth class the teacher told us it's pretty common to puke during and even before labor. I know it sounds silly and people think its funny but I have a phobia of puking and am kinda freaking out a little bit, everyone I talk to says they didn't throw up or feel nauseous during labor but they know I'm freaking out over here and could possibly be lying. Did you vomit or feel nauseous during labor?

I'm most likely going to be induced at 39 weeks because of my GD if this makes a difference.

I'm afraid I will from the meds. I puked the last two times I had heavy meds at the hospital, which was for hip surgery and a colonoscopy. I asked the anesthesiologist about it, and he seemed confident that he can avoid it by watching my blood pressure.

I didn't puke with either of my girls. I think I was nauseated with both of them if I remember correctly.

I did right after labor. I didn't feel nauseated during but right after I had her, they took her away and then it felt like I had intense heartburn. Luckily, it happened quickly and only once!

I felt slightly nauseous but it wasn't horrible or long lasting, and I did not puke.

ETA: I didn't have any meds; not sure if that had anything to do with it.

I've heard the medication can make some people nauseas and vomit. I delivered naturally and didn't have any nausea or vomiting, before or after.

I have heard the meds can cause some people to vomit. My best friend felt like she needed to but the doctor gave her something to counteract it and she was fine.

I've had that reaction to morphine twice so DH is going to make sure that I get the counteracting meds no matter what kind of pain meds they give me.

I didn't last time but I've been having contractions lately that have been making me nauseous so I wouldn't be surprised if it happened this time.

I got super nauseous with DS#1, I thought for sure I was going to be sick. I told the nurse and she said a lot of people feel that way as they are transitioning. She checked me, and I was fully and ready to push. Once I started pushing the feeling went away.

I was induced at 39 weeks, and I suppose the pitocin could have caused the nausea and puking. Especially since it makes your contrax much stronger.  I was puking the whole time I was pushing and TMI warning, I couldn't stop pushing when they asked me to because the puking was pretty forceful.

I puked twice during transition and once during the c/s. Puking was the least of my concerns every time.

Once I hit 10 cms and they had me sit up to start pushing, I started dry heaving (I would have thrown up but I had nothing in my system at that point since I had labored for so long).  It wasn't fun but only lasted for a minute, maybe 2 and then my body had adjusted to the new position I was in and my mind went to "get this baby out" mode.

The nurse said you just have so many hormones rushing through your body that sometimes you get a little nauseous.

I'm like you -- I hate, hate, hate vomiting and will do anything I can to avoid it.

I felt nauseous during labor, but did not vomit. I went into labor naturally, so I don't know if being induced makes a difference.

once my contractions reached 5 mins apart I started puking with everyone.  It didn't stop until I got IV zofran when I got set up in the hospital...since it was happening with the contractions...I was concentrating more on those than the fact that i was throwing up.

I did but only during pushing, they have me zofran through my IV so no biggie.

I also had morning sickness my entire pregnancy so not sure if that played a part in it either.

I HATE puking. I felt nauseated during both labors at transition and demanded antinausea meds during my otherwise medfree deliveries. It goes in your IV and offers pretty immediate relief.

I puked 3 or 4 times. It sucked because you can't eat if you are induced so only bile was coming up.

I puked during transition with the first two.  With my 3rd I had an epi during transition and didn't puke.  For me it is intense pain = vomit.

I was induced and had 2 diff kinds of pain meds. I didn't throw up, but I did feel light-headed. Once DS was out I got the shakes really bad, but I think that was just the adrenaline. But no puking for me, hoping it goes the same way this time.

Sorry to say I was induced at 39 weeks with my son and threw up during transition when my epidural stopped working. I wouldn't stress over it, though. If you are going through an unmedicated induction, the puking during transition will actually help you to feel better and you won't remember much that happens thereafter.

Yep.  Vomited during pushing with DS1.  Didn't happen with DS2, but I had a much shorter labor and didn't chow down the ice chips like I did w/ DS1.

I puked a few times, but I was induced and hadn't had anything to eat in over 12 hours so it wasn't anything that substantial. It happened during and after labor for me- right when we were getting ready to be transferred to post-partum.

I puked during transition with both of my other kids.  One before the epi (so no drugs at all) and one after having had the epi.  It wasn't terrible and it was only once or twice.

I did. I actually did three times. But I only did it because I was stupid. When my lips would get chapped I would put something on them. It took me three tries to realize that the stuff that I was putting on my lips were what was making me sick. Other than that, nothing and I had an epidural.

YUP definetly puked. I was induced with DD1 and I went from not feeling anything to an 11 on the pain scale in about an hour. Spent alot of time puking!! It sucked, I hate puking and usually would do anything to prevent myself from going there. But there was nothing I could do. it sucked, I got through it, life moved on.

I felt nauseous but I was my whole pregnancy, so that probably matters.  I never did puke though.

Like a PP mentioned, it will likely be the last thing on your mind. :o)  I feel your pain a bit though. I hate puking with a passion, but a full pregnancy of m/s broke me of that a bit.
