Food & Teeth

So many babies are eating things I would think you'd need teeth for- cheerios, granola bars, gold fish, animal crackers... None of those things dissolve quickly. But the front teeth aren't really used for chewing anyway. So if your LO eats these things, do they have teeth? How many and which ones?

DD eats things like Cheerios and Goldfish (small sized things) and she only has her two bottom teeth!  Gums are powerful!

Gums work just fine. LO is on all table food and only some fruit puree's (and then BM of course) and only had her bottom two front teeth until last week. Now she has two top teeth too. She has never gagged or choked on food yet, so I think gums must to the trick!

DS doesn't have any teeth yet and he gums all sorts of things. He's just a late teether and I want to have him experience a variety of foods.

We started BLW at 6 months with no teeth. He got his first tooth at 9 months when he could already handle most solids. Now at 11.5 months, he still only has 2 teeth and eats everything imaginable.

We are also a BLW family. My older DD did not get any teeth until she was 11 months old.  She ate pretty much everything.

DD2 is 8 months and has two teeth.  She can easily eat most of the food that I eat...

You ever try letting your kid gum on your finger? You'd be amazed just how powerful their jaws are. They can process most non-fiberous foods pretty well with gums.
