Are shower invites addressed like wedding invites?

As in, if there's an adult child still living at home, do they get their own invitation; or is it okay to address one invitation to multiple adults living under the same roof? What about if Grandma lives with aunt and aunt has 2 adult daughters at home too?

Adults that aren't married to each other should not be expected to share mail. Everyone gets their own invite.

That's what I thought. When I did this for my wedding with the aunt who had grandma living with her in addition to 3 adult children under her roof and a 4th who just gets his mail there, there were some scoffs and talk of wasting time and resources on all those invites. Apparently I was being side eyed for sending 6 invites to the same address? That's why I was wondering if showers and less formal events are different.

Etiquette says separate, if your family doesn't care and wants one, then do that. But the correct thing is each adult gets their own.

This makes complete sense to me, especially since the wedding was a plus one sort of event and showers aren't. I admit I feel weird putting 4 names on a single invite but if aunt said last time it was a waste at least I know it's not likely to be side eyed.

I sent my cousins and their mom three invites to the same address using the above logic. One cousin is a senior in HS, but I know it made her feel special.

I would normally agree that each adult gets their own invite, but if your aunt scoffed before, just send one to them all.

For our wedding, we only sent one invite to my husband's parents and his two adult brothers who all live in the same house, because we knew that they'd think it was a silly waste to send each of them an invitation separately. Sometimes, it's knowing your audience.

For a wedding, I'd definitely follow the "rules", but if it's just a shower, I don't think it's a big deal.

I think it would be fine either way.

Exactly! I mean, who else is going to side-eye this but your aunt? No one else is going to know or care. But she might think it's excessive especially if she said so with the wedding invites.
