Sex after birth

So I know we're supposed to be super super fertile after birth, but it had been a while since I had been intimate and so I slipped up and had some unprotected sexy time with my man. I'm really worried about getting pregnant because I absolutely cannot get pregnant again. I am breast feeding, is it true that that can lower a woman's chances of becoming pregnant? Also are there birth control options that are safe while breast feeding??

i would test in a couple weeks just in case but i'm sure it's fine. breastfeeding does help but you can still ovulate

i was told an IUD (Merena) is a good one...i'll be doing that.

you can also take the Pill but it's a different formulation.

* the other reason they want you to wait is because of infection, you're uterus isn't healed up inside yet. where the placenta came off it's an open wound...another reason you bleed

I'm pretty sure Mirena and Paragard are safe while breastfeeding!

Eek!  Yes and yes.  Breastfeeding can keep you from ovulating, but that's not true for every woman.  There are many bc options and your OB should have discussed them all at you postpartum appt when they cleared you for sexual intercourse.  Sounds like you need to make another appt!  For now, good old condoms are your best bet.

I'd ask your OB/GYN and if you aren't sure about these facts, don't slip up anymore until you are :)
