Change Pad

We've decided against getting a change table due to it's limited usefulness. Has anyone used a contour change pad on the floor/bed? Or is it easier to get a flat plastic change pad. I know I'll need the flat one for out trips but just wondering for at home.

 Thanks!

We used ours on the floor with DD, worked just fine. I did decide to get a changing table this time around, we got it used for 100 bucks and it has some storage too.

We, like most people we know, put the changing pad on the top of a dresser. You still have the dresser after the need for the pad is gone. That said, I've changed DD on the floor, couch & beds a million times.

We have the same set up. Think its fairly common to do it that way.

In her nursery we use a changing table--we find it very useful for....well, changing her diaper.  Which we do a lot, bc you know, she's a baby/toddler and is in a diaper 24/7.  We also find the storage under it very useful.

Downstairs, we just have a changing lap pad thing that is like a small waterproof blanket and we change her on the couch.  When this LO comes, she will get the changing table, and we got a contoured changing pad to put on top of DD1's dresser until she is PT.

Our changing table was free with our crib. (YAY) Otherwise we would've gone with the changing pad on the dresser. A changing table isn't as big as a deal as the changing pad is. You don't want to always have to get down on the floor to change your babies diaper. IMO.

We use a contour one on the dresser in DS's room.

Honestly, you don't need any of it. We used towels and blankets for changing on the bed or the floor. In the newborn days, we used the changing table on the PnP, but it was worthless and couldn't hold DS's weight.

My mom gave us some multi-use pads, and those were nice since they are waterproof, but none of it is necessary.

I still change DS on the floor on a towel or one of the pads, and we'll probably just use the bed for DD (with a towel/blanket/pad).

With my stepson, his birth mother literally dropped him off one day before we had any supplies, so we used the floor and the changing pad that comes with a diaper bag.  We didn't have room for a changing table so we just continued to use the diapter bag pad and change him on the bed or floor.  With this child, we are buying a dresser and putting one of those contour pads on top.  I think changing tables are a waste of money.
