Anyone use a cleaning service?

I've been able to keep the mess down to a dull roar but my house needs a thorough cleaning and I can't/won't do it.  I wanted to hire a service for a one time thing and was wondering what I might be looking at $$ wise.  I have a 2 bedroom, half carpet/hardwoods.  And who do you use?  Wierd ?s I know but I've never done this before.  THanks

I use to run a cleaning service. In our area (Portland, OR) it would run you about $75.00 every other week. HTH

I priced out for about the same and in my area (NOVA) it costs 200 for the first cleaning and then 125 per cleaning afterward.

Consultation/price estimates are generally free. So just call around - find out first if you are comfortable with an 'individual' or a company (like merry maids, etc).

Then just have them come for an estimate. They will give you a first time cleaning fee (which is generally about double the 'regular' cleaning fee).

Often times the first time cleaning fee will be lower IF you are planning to put them on a regular cleaning schedule (such as every week, every other week, some might be okay with even once a month).

But generally the first time or one time cleaning fee is going to be much higher than a 'regular' cleaning fee.

ALSO, generally company web site and those coupon packs you get in the mail will have a discount coupon that you can use too off your first cleaning.

We have a cleaning service, and will def. continue it once the baby is born.  We pay $70 every 2 weeks for our 3 bed, 1.5 bath house (1650 sq ft).  That's a really low price for my area (Boston).

I would check craigslist for cleaning services, or sign up for Angie's list (angieslist.com).  We found ours on Angie's list and we love them.
